WEDDING FAQ

Stay in the know.

WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE IN CROOK POINT?

We kindly request that all guests make their travel arrangements to the Oregon coast for arrival no later than Wednesday, July 16, 2025. While there are day-of flights that arrive at 1pm, we want all guests to have an enjoyable, no-rush experience. For events involving the main wedding party, we will work directly to plan for arrival beforehand.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET TO CROOK POINT?

The nearest airport is in Crescent City, CA which is 50 minutes away and operates small flights daily. Otherwise, there are a few other regional airports on the Crook Point FAQ page, including North Bend (2 hours away) and Medford (3 hours away). The nearest major airports are fairly distant, with Portland 5 1/2 hours away and San Francisco 7 hours away. While it would be a very scenic drive, we assume that most of our guests will want minimal additional travel time.

There are rental car companies at each of these airports, and we suggest calling ahead to ensure a reserved vehicle.

IS THERE A DRESS CODE?

Yes. We kindly ask that all guest dress in Black Tie or Black Tie Optional, and our color scheme is black with accents in forest green.

For men this may include (but is not limited to) all black dress pants or trousers, button-down white collared dress shirts, Oxford shirts, dress shoes, and loafers. Suit jackets and blazers are preferred. Neckties and bowties can come off later in the evening. Perhaps an accent, such as a pocket square, in forest green to brighten the look and have some fun!

For women we would love to see (but is not limited to) dresses, jumpsuits, pant suits, skirts, blouses, blazers, sandals, espadrilles, and flats. High heels are acceptable, but we recommend block heels as all events will be held outdoors on a grass lawn.

Note: if wearing accent greens, keep them dark - no lime green! Please reach out if you have questions about a particular piece.

Our lovely dinner service will be provided by Sheild Catering and will include a cocktail hour with craft drinks and a curated charcuterie board filled with delicious cured meats, fresh and dried fruits, local artisan breads and jams, dips, honey, and antipasto skewers.

The plated dinner service will start with an Arugula salad topped with snap peas, fennel slaw, pickled red onion, and a red wine vinaigrette. Fresh artisan bread and herbed butter will be served throughout dinner.

Then you will have your choice of entree; a grilled tri-tip steak in a red wine reduction or a chicken marsala. Every plate comes with seasonal farm fresh roasted veggies and a creamy wild mushroom penne (double serving as the vegetarian option.)

Our bar will serve our selection of craft cocktails as well as 3 Oakshire Beer Varieties, a Townsend Hard Cider, 3 William Rose Wines, and standard liquors and mixers.

Cake and cupcakes will be available post-dinner with an assortment of flavors.

For those still awake at the close of the night, we will have a coffee, tea, and hot chocolate service with our beach bonfire, complete with s’mores!

WHAT IS THE MENU?

WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE IN OREGON?

The Pacific Northwest is known for being rainy and gray, however we are reasonably sure that our wedding day will be clear and sunny, and a comfortable 63-68*F. We will plan for the weather as we know more, and will have backup plans for rain or heat.

WHERE CAN I STAY?

We recommend booking any remaining homes at the Crook Point Estate directly through the Crook Point Website or find an AirBnB in the area as there are many beautiful vacation homes. There are also charming boutique hotel options such as Mermaid’s Muse Bead & Breakfast in Brookings, or The Wildflower Inn in Gold Beach.

We understand the challenges associated with a remote destination wedding, and hope you agree that the scenery is well worth the trip!

DO I HAVE TO STAY FOR LONGER THAN THE DAY?

No. While we highly recommend spending some time viewing the breathtaking coast, natural landscapes, and nearby state and national parks, your presence on the day is greatly appreciated and more than enough to honor our union.

WHERE WILL THE WEDDING BE HELD?

The wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will all take place at the Arch Rock Main Lawn at Crook Point located at 23368 Mack Arch Rd, Gold Beach, OR 97444.

WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?

The wedding ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00 PM PDT. We ask that all guests plan to arrive at the Crook Point property at least 30 minutes prior. Light refreshments will be offered for a few hours before arrival.

WHERE SHOULD I PARK?

Signage will be onsite to direct arriving guests, but make sure not to park directly at any venue entrances. For our venue, there is a large field east of the venue for parking. The area directly in front of the venue is for pickup/dropoff only.

WILL THERE BE FOOD AND DRINKS SERVED?

Yes. For a few hours before the ceremony, light appetizers and signature beverages will be served. Following the wedding ceremony there will be an open-bar cocktail hour held from 5:45 PM to 6:45 PM PDT. Guests will then be seated for a main dinner course. Wedding cake will later be served. Wine and spirits, plus an assortment of coffee and teas will also be provided for guests throughout the evening.

Later in the evening, around 8:30 PM, we invite all guests down to watch the sunset on the private beach, where we will create a small campfire and make s’mores. We will be working with the site to determine accessibility for all guests to be able to attend, if they so wish.

Note: If you have a dietary restriction, please let us know in your online RSVP submission or contact us directly here.

IS AN RSVP REQUIRED?

Yes. An accurate guest count is essential for all aspects of wedding planning and execution. Please submit your RSVP online by Saturday, March 1, 2025. Alternatively, RSVPs returned by mail must also be post-marked by Thursday, February 27, 2025.

Note: If you have not yet submitted your RSVP, please do so here.

MAY I BRING A GUEST?

Yes and no. In order to keep our guest list organized and our wedding more intimate, we kindly ask that only guests formally invited are in attendance. A plus-one will be clearly indicated on the wedding invitation.

SHOULD I BRING A GIFT?

No. Not only should you not travel with a wedding gift, we encourage you not to purchase one at all. We understand that destination weddings cause guests to incur higher costs and your time and presence at our celebration is gift enough. Further, we will likely be moving across the country again or even already be in the process!

Note: If you should still choose to buy a gift, you can find a list of our wedding registries on our website here. Any presents can then be mailed to Elizabeth and Stefan Kraus once our new home address is finalized.
